I spent the beginning of my marriage adapting to living in a place that felt at once very new and very comfortable to me: Lawrence County, AL. I felt very much like the new kid I was, albeit having been welcomed to the area and to the Shelton family with open arms.
It wasn't until the last five years, though, that I learned through my absolute sleuth of a mother (Seek 2 Find Them) that we do in fact have ancestors (Austin and Christian surname) buried in Lawrence County, and thus making me not quite the "new kid," but someone who has roots here that go back perhaps even before my native husband's. This was a full-circle moment confirming that I am exactly where I was always meant to be...right down the mountain from the reposed who share my DNA.
Our second date was at a cemetery. My sister-in-law ran one, my husband appeared in a movie filmed at one, and my mother is one of the top contributors on this site.
