The NamUs Grave Project's purpose is to catalog the many graves throughout the United States of unidentified decedents.
When an unidentified person is found deceased, they are typically buried by the county at a local cemetery. These graves are often unmarked, without any stone to represent their spot in their burial grounds.
Using NamUs profiles created from information found and determined by local Coroner and Police Departments, public records and publications, and cemetery records, our mission is to provide memorials for these individuals, both out of respect for the deceased, and to help share the information in the hopes of eventual identification.
