When it comes to this group I believe in accurate updated and as detailed as info as possible. Updated photos allow to show the stones current state and are helpful in not only locating stones but also monitoring and relaying info about the stones current condition. I believe in researched and verified edits and am willing to manage or transfer any memorials within Perth County, if your interested in managing or sharing.
I joined due to my love of headstones, history, art, family and of course cemeteries. Although I am fairly new to this group, I am not new to respectful treatment and etiquette in and around cemeteries.
Since I was young I had joined my grandma on her walks through many local cemeteries as she visited our ancestors. Learning the importance of family, documentation, preservation and management.
A project like this is such a labour of love, and helping families locate their branches is so amazing, and addicting.
I know am working on updating, digitizing and documenting all the graves of Perth County. As of last year there is no longer an active group in Perth County doing so, the records are old, missing or scarce and not updated. The records that we have are stored within the Perth County Archives or local museum, and some are available for purchase through the OGS. With this closure, and time I noticed more and more deteriorating stones, more topling, leaning and removed stones. More branches potential falling, I was increasingly concerned.
My concern and love for the care of headstones and the joy of preservation has lead me to start a website, www.eternalcarestoneservices.ca There I provide links to genealogy sites, Perth County Cemeteries. I also write and post a blog on the site about various topics, including stories of pioneers and settlers from the areas, headstone care and more.
Helping families read, maintain and preserve their most cherished. With my focus in and around Perth County.
I love what I do, helping out and walking through history. Let me know if I can help.
