Shirley was born in Whitbourne, NL, ordained a Deacon in 1986, Priest in 1987, and served as rector in various parishes in the Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador as well as ten-years in the Diocese of Fredericton. Her last parish was Upper Island Cove and she retired from there in June 2025. She and her husband Armin live in her hometown of Whitbourne.
