I have been reading though historic newpapers for over 30 years. One day as I was walking by the WWI Monument on Broadway in Tarrytown NY, it occurred to me that nowhere online can be found the list of those veterans. Ditto for the War Monument on Beekman Avenue in Sleepy Hollow NY(formerly North Tarrytown). I have been unable to identify some of the names listed on these monuments. In addition to the monument names, I was able to identify other WWI vets not recorded on the monuments through census, military records and obituaries. There are likely more WWI vets who were born in or lived at one time or another in the Tarrytowns or nearby so my lists are more than likely incomplete. It's said that the WWII generation was the greatest but it should be remembered that it was the WWI generation that raised them. Will be happy to add to add additional vets if you contact me with information on the missing.
