My name is Karen and I grew up in southern Minnesota and attended a country church that was as much a family as my own. It has now closed which breaks my heart when I visit the cemetery. I became obsessed with cemeteries when I started doing my Father and Mothers family trees. I have walked many cemeteries looking for clues etc. Now my daughter and I try to find abandoned or pioneer cemeteries in our spare time. Sometimes its a detour on a trip somewhere, sometimes its our day off mission. After finding a small cemetery in the middle of nowhere recently and finding distant relatives buried there, I looked up their information and found it was incorrectly attached to the wrong family. Anyway, in the end, I decided with my obsession of visiting cemeteries I decided I might as well do something useful with it and so here I am. I get very frustrated when I find that some of these cemeteries have disappeared over the years without ever been photographed, the records lost, or some farmer refuses access to the cemetery because the right-of-way is on his land. I also love solving mysteries so still belong to Ancestry.com and try to find someone "in the know" so I can make these real people instead of just a name and dates.
