I'm excited to begin the journey down my path to finding links for my Paternal Family Tree "JOLLEY "
I've always been told we were Irish possibly Welsh Irish, but as I'm discovering the lineage all the way down to my early earliest date of 1715 there are a lot of links in England, - British links. The Jolley name has gone back to Sussex England and I'm excited to discover all the new branches from the family tree.
Im also excited to discover the reason behind the name Jolley as we know that many times back in the day, people were named due to their job title or financial status. learning the reason behind Jolley is exciting. Interesting, I found that sometimes the E was dropped purely due to the census takers, need to take the easy way out rather than spelling phonetically. Many times the E was brought back by the person in other documents. Ironically all my life, I've always had to specifically spell out my last name JOLLEY emphasizing to add the E.
