From the genealogy entitled Descendants of Jacob O. Whitmore, by Grace Kilmer Whittemore, compiled in 1995. Jacob O. Whitmore was born in Switzerland. He married ANN (last name unknown). They lived in Frederick County (Virginia or Maryland?) and in Culpeper County, Virginia. In 1779 they settled in Rockingham County,Virginia, on the road between Weyer's Cave and Keezletown (now State Route #276). Jacob died in 1800, one account said about 59 years of age. Both Jacob and Ann Whitmore are buried on the old family farm, now owned by Willam Rubush, a descendant.
