Final Muster My 2nd Great Grandfather, Benjamin F. Cruzen, served during the Civil War in Company E., 33rd Iowa Infantry. Company E was mostly made up of men and boys from the Oskaloosa, Iowa area. --- Benj fought in the battles of Helena and Jenkins Ferry, Arkansas. At Jenkins Ferry he was severely wounded, taken prisoner, and incarcerated 10 months at the Confederate prison camp in Tyler, Texas. --- He made it home from the war and lived nearly another 70 years in Mahaska County, and was the last surviving member of Company E. --- I have gathered those of his comrades from Company E that I have found. May they be together now in peace instead of in war. Special thanks to Gregory and Cathy K. Urwin for the inspiration.
