U.S. Army Air Corp, 341st Bomb Group, 11th, 22nd, 490th & 491st Bomb Squadrons, China-Burma-India theater. The 22nd Bomb Squadron served in the CBI from May 1942 until August 1945. Around 1300 men served during that 3 year, 4 month time frame. The 22nd Squadron flew the Mitchell B-25 medium bomber, models C, D, H and finally the J model. The 22nd Squadron lost 116 airmen during the 3 years, 4 months of operations. Not all were related to combat. Eleven were lost when two aircraft collided. Twenty four men were lost while flying home on a transport.
