Jennette (called Nettie) was first married to Jesse Clow Estes on April 27, 1887. Jesse's first wife at passed away leaving him with 4 young children, who for the most part, remained with their grandparents back in Marion County, Iowa. Jesse and Nettie had two children together Cora Viola (Estes) Grant (1888-1972) and Richard Earl Estes (1890-1968). Nettie and Jesse would divorce in 1891 and Jesse returned to Iowa where he remained the rest of his life living close to his parents and Iowa children. Nettie then married Charles Pratt. Cora was about 3 years old and Earl about 1 year old. Jesse Clow Estes had served in the Civil War.
