Jane,Thanks for the FIND A GRAVE site. I was aware of them and I added the photos. The Genealogy of my father's family appears to be related to Richard Gardiner and his son Luke, according to FAMILY TREE DNA, who lived in southern Maryland, Charles and St. Mary's Counties. Richard Gardiner was apparently a passenger on the Mayflower and he wanted to go to Virginia. Unfortunately, the ship landed in Cape Cod in what is now Massachusetts. Richard Gardiner signed the Mayflower Compact, and was lucky enough to survive the first winter. He then returned to England ands around 1633 he and his family left England and finally, arrived in Virginia and then moved on to Maryland as noted above.Richard Gardiner was part of the family of William Gardiner (who married Helen Tutor) Henry the 7th, king of England 1st cousin.
