John Chapman was born in Ireland to Edward B.& Elizabeth (McKeowne)Chapman. They immigrated to U.S.A. on July 20,1849. They settled on afarm in Vernon township Dubuque county Iowa. They had 5 more sons;Edward,Bernard,David,William and Robert. And they had 2 daughters;Esther and Catherine. Edward B.Chapman died on Oct.26,1865 at the ageof 40 years old. I think he died of consumption.John worked on the family farm until after 1870. When he moved out toHamilton county Iowa with the Charles Ristrim family. John was marriedon Feb.20,1874 to Jennie Ristrim at Stratford,Iowa. John and Jenniefarmed in Hamilton county Iowa. They had 2 sons; John Edward and Williamand 2 daughters;Emma and Nellie. John Chapman died Sept.11,1921 andJennie died Jan. 14,1953.
