United or 5 Spot as its locally known as was originally developed in Ronda West Virgina right off Ronda Rd which feeds into 5 spot road and the Cemetery. United was made because of the new hwy going in a mile away in Dry Branch. This affected Dry Branch Cemetery and approximately 2/3's of the graves from Dry Branch were moved to this new Cemetery in order to make way for the new Rd. Families of the deceased where given free plots as compensation for having to move their relatives. In my Case my GG Grandfather and mother Rodham and Julia Spaulding remained at Dry Branch Cemetery but his son Van Buren Spaulding and his wife Sarah Alice Curry Spaulding were moved to United or 5 Spot. I visited both Cemeteries on April 3 2016. United or 5 Spot was made on the side of a big hill I would say perhaps 150-200 feet tall at is on a 35-45 degree incline. The Cemetery is overgrown and conservatively I would say 50 percent of the graves are not locatable. I had a map with gridlines from the state when they designed it which makes it look neat and flat and well designed. The reality is the cemetery except for the few up front is in disrepair is almost impossible and dangerous to get around. I was not able to find the 5 relatives even with a grid map and even guiding off other graves. very sad.
