From the diary of Anna Sophia Hanson Joelson: The Joelson CemeteryThe land was given by Tom Peterson about 1/4 acre and David Joelson 2/3 of an acre for cemetery use about 1880. The Deed reads Barren Co Lutheran church with the understanding that anyone living on the west side of Prairie Lake could buy lots there. The money taken in for sale of lots is to be used for general repairs and fence.The Deed of cemetery is at Barron court house. The name was changed from Joelson cemetery to Pleasant Plain Cemetery in 1917. The name of the community David Joelson was Sexton until 1900, then he retired and asked took the work over.
