This John Key is my family member and is proven VIA yDNA through his son Owen Kea, Kee, Key and possibly other spellings, What little is known is listed below.John Key, b. abt 1749 but before 1751, probably in Isle of Wight, VA., he married Mary Owen (Owin) in about 1775. She was born 23 March 1752 probably at Halifax, VA. Mary Owens father is, William Owen and her mother is, Hannah Gizzard. Both Mary and John Key are mentioned in Hannah's will as husband and wife.Known fact: This john was never married to any other person, you will find other John Key's with other wives, they are not this John that married Mary Owen. Mary was never married to anyone else. In a copy from, William and Hannah Owen's bible listing marriages, Mary Owen is said to have married a John Kee in what appears to be 1773 or 1775. The copy I have is in extremely poor condition and was discovered in, Rube Key's bible in 1737. It is written on what appears to be silk that has fallen apart. Owen and other family members were registered as belonging to, The Macedonia Church in, Sulligent, AL in 1823 and were released in about 1827.Dale Key
