The original purchase of this land was made on March 21, 1833 by Peter Souder. The 1883 History of Piatt County says that Mary and Peter Souder chose their burial place to be on this property. The earliest marker is for Isaac S. Souder, son of J. & M. Souder who died July 1841 at the age of 2 years. Peter Souder's headstone is found here but Mary's grave (who died over 20 years later) is found in the Haneline Cemetery in Monticello.
The cemetery is located on private property in a cow pasture with cows walking through and over the headstones. It is on a knoll, above a small stream, in a wooded area. As of 2025, there are remnants of a fence that once surrounded it, but the cemetery is in very poor condition with fallen trees and brush covering a large portion of the cemetery.
