Sadorus Cemetery
Also known as Sadorus Gove Cemetery
Sadorus, Champaign County, Illinois, USA
The Sadorus Cemetery is located about one mile southwest of the town of Sadorus in Sadorus Township. The cemetery lies on a rise and slopes towards the Okaw stream. Most of the burials are in regular rows, and the cemetery is quite well kept. The D.A.R. transcribed the cemetery in 1960, however, the records of the earliest burials may not be available as burials began here with the settlement of the county. Sadorus Gove Cemetery became known as Sadorus Cemetery in 1837, when William Sadorus platted the town of Sadorus. This marked the establishment of the cemetery as part of the new town. The cemetery was established shortly after the settlement of the county., with the first burials occurring in the early years following the settlement.
