Minneopa was a town that thrived for a while, but failed due to three hard years of grasshoppers and poor crops which began in 1873. Eventually, the area which was once Minneopa became a popular state park. A local group has undertaken the preservation of the cemetery. (Source Minnesota's Lost Towns, Southern Edition, by Rhonda Fochs)
