The second level of Ascutney Cemetery in Early March.

The construction of the tomb at Ascutney Cemetery was completed in November 1875, almost twenty years after the Windsor Cemetery Association was chartered. The tomb was dug into the side of the hill on the second level of the cemetery. It was lined with stone and would provide temporary cold storage while the ground was frozen and graves couldn't be dug. The tomb was used until the 1980’s when it was replaced with modern refrigeration.

The tomb in July 2014.

This is the Vermont Department of Corrections section of Ascutney Cemetery, the final resting place of those who died while in prison.
