Evergreen Cemetery, 1786, in Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, can be easily accessed by proceeding down Cottage Road, in Newbury, and entering the cemetery via the dirt road going straight-ahead at the bend. From the cemetery sign seen at the entrance, the older, original portion of the Evergreen Cemetery is clearly visible in the rear being bordered by an old black iron fence and gate. This area contains the earliest burials in the cemetery. As that area filled up, the Evergreen Cemetery was expanded into the large area in front of the iron fence and towards Cottage Road with the more recent burials. Photos on the Find A Grave cemetery page illustrate the view, looking through and past the cemetery's newer burials from the front entrance to the rear. These photos clearly show the older rear portion of the cemetery behind the iron fence, where you will find the original and earliest burials of the Evergreen Cemetery.
