Prospect Cemetery in Union Twp., Wells County, final resting place of no less than thirty-two members of the Osborn family. The land for the cemetery was donated in 1853 by Leif (or more likely Levi) Osborn. It is rumoured that a young Indian boy is buried here as well as a Negro slave girl. The earliest burial we could find a record of was that of Albert MCCorkle, died 8-10-1851, two years old, but some ONLINE sources say it was John, infant son of James and B. Scott, in 1838, but we suspect that may be in error. The James and B. Scott buried here were born in 1825 and 1834. John Scott (1801 -1854) may be the father, which would be more likely, or the date is wrong since after all this land was part of an Indian Reservation until 1846...

Across the street you will notice the Prospect ME church, built in 1911. The original Prospect Church was a log house.
