St. Alphonsus Cemetery was established circa 1874. Its oldest section resides on the North side of Ottawa Street, and its most recognizable landmark is the Kennedy Mausoleum visible from the Howard Avenue side of the property.

The cemetery was founded in tandem with St. Alphonsus Parish, which was established in 1865 as the first Catholic parish in the city of Windsor St. Alphonsus Catholic Parish.
