The old church at Harlan Cemetery in rural Hancock County Indiana.Stephen Harlan set aside five acres of farmland that he entered in 1834 for use of a neighborhood burial ground. It was laid out to include the grave of Vincent Cooper's child who wandered from home and was found frozen to death on the banks of Sugar Creek. The Concord Baptist Church was organized and in 1855 the congregation replaced their log church with a frame building. The structure still stands on the cemetery site and is known as the Harlan Church. The grounds are well maintained by endowment.
