Myers Cemetery was established on Aug. 11, 1856 when Peter Myers and his second wife Susan deeded the original two acres acres to trustees "for a Meeting & School House and burying ground." The area had previously been used as a "burying ground."

For some reason, the cemetery was called "Burrus" in some old obituaries, but the land in and around the cemetery has always been owned by the Myers family.

In May 1971, the Myers family heirs deeded the cemetery area to Herrick Township. The cemetery now contains nine acres.
