Take Filtration Plant Road north off Route 1. Turn left before guardhouse. Road to cemetery is clearly marked.
Historic cemetery containing the graves of many members of the Groton Avery and Morgan Families. Cemetery established on the land of James Morgan. A renovation occurred in 1924 thanks to a donation from John D Rockefeller, a descendant of Samuel Avery. Old stones were cleaned and reset and boulders with tablets in memory of James Avery and James Morgan were placed. This historic cemetery is located behind the more contemporary Smith Lake Cemetery.
