The Bunurong Cemetery was established in 1995 in Dandenong South. It opened with another Crematorium with options to inter cremains, including burials and a mausoleum on cemetery grounds. The name ‘Bunurong' came from the Aboriginal people of the Kulin nation, the Boonwurrung people which were in the south of Victoria.

The cemetery was designed to celebrate life and be used as a place for reflection and gathering. The cemetery offers over 300 acres of land with wide ranges of native plants and gardens including two lakes, chapels and function rooms. The park won Gold 2018 Melbourne Design awards in Urban design.
