The cemetery was established in 1821 as Scott Burying Ground. The cemetery is inactive and is now maintained by the City of New Albany. The cemetery can be reached via a walk up a gravel road that begins at the end of Capitol Drive. A gate blocks the gravel road to vehicles.
The cemetery is located in New Albany Township (NW quadrant of the NE quadrant of Section 15, Township 2S, Range 6E) at the northern end of Capitol Drive about 0.1 miles north of its intersection with Quality Avenue
