This African American rural cemetery outside Chilton is overgrown but is receiving current burials. The front of the property is not fenced and there is no sign. The grounds are covered with weeds, vines and tall grass. Wild flowers, a variety of trees and iris plants are growing through-out this cemetery. The graves are scattered and there is room for future burials. The cemetery is located about 350 feet from a Power sub-station. If you look at the road you will see fences about 65 feet apart with the center area unfenced… that is where Scruggs in located. There are metal pipes at both corners of the cemetery. In 2019 there were about 12 burials in this graveyard.

Directions

From Chilton Texas travel East on Hwy 7 toward Marlin. When you see CR 414 on the left you will turn left and continue driving. The road will make a sharp turn to the left, and then back to the right. Drive until you see the Power sub-station and you should see the front unfenced area of the cemetery, before the power station, on the right side of the road.
