A view of the Old Brixey Cemetery near Manchester and Asbury Tn, where Thomas Brixey (d. 1841) is buried with his wife Susannah in an old gravehouse. As of late August 2010, the gravehouse has fallen in and the approximately 60ft by 90ft fenced area of the grave yard is in very bad condition. Visited the Brixey Cemetery in Coffee County TN on 1 March 2014. It continues to be in poor condition, with the under layer of dead brush becoming more thick. The cemetery is in the middle of a cattle pasture, protected on all sides by a 5 foot chain link fence and barbed wire. As, I scaled the fence and approached the site of the old Brixey gravehouse itself, it was apparent I was disturbing a skunks den. I QUICKLY made my exit.

Photo of the Brixey Cemetery in the early 1980's after a bit of restoration work had been done. Note the scale of the dimensions of the original gravehouse. The graveyard was still in open pasture and suffered irreparable damage prior to being fenced in some years later..

Marker for Sarah C. Hickerson (Wife of W.A. Hickerson) just to the west of the remains of the Brixey gravehouse. The smaller markers are either footstones or other burial sites. The two smaller stones in the foreground have WAH on the one one the left, and SCH on the one on the right, indicating they might be footstones.
