Some of the older stones were originally located in the old "Presbyterian Cemetery" that was located on Main Street, Sydney Mines. The stones and remains were moved to "Brookside" on Halfway Road to accommodate the excavation for the , then new, Sydney Mines High School – presently the Sydney Mines Junior High School.
