Add PhotosLocation: East on Greange Hall Road from Hwy 61 South of Vicksburg 1.8 ,iles to iron gate o right, between deep banks of old roadbed. Several hundred feet inside the gate, th old road forks, take the left, up a reidge, for several undred more feet, The graveyard is to the left of the road and only 3 or 4 feet from the roadbed. The Whittington grave has been robbed in recent years (funeral home records state that his casket had silver handles), and the large tombstone had toppled into the opening, On June 29, 1996, the stone was pulled from the grave, which was then filled with dirt, and the stone again erected. Ancient cedar trees indicate that the cemetery may have been larger at one time, and the base os a small stone was found near the Whittington marker. One Person, familiar with the site, recalled having seen a large crypt-type marker there many years ago. The original road ran by the east edge of the graveyard but part of i washed away, and in recent years a bulldozer made a road on the west edge, though it does not appear to have harmed the graveyard. PRIVATE PROPERTY. This land is leased for deer hunting.
(the tombstone has the chain of three links on it-the symbol for the International Order of Odd Fellows)
