The Parish Church of St Matthew was built in 1865 to replace an earlier church built in 1791 on the other side of Market street.


The original church graveyard was closed in the 19th Century.


Most headstones were removed and the area of land is now a Memorial Garden for the Community to use.


All early burials were on this land which is separated from the existing church by a road.


Later burials are at the side of the church built in 1865.
