History:
The Pine Grove Mills Presbyterian congregation was formed about 1839 by some members of the Spring Creek and Spruce Creek Presbyterian congregation. 1832 the Pine Grove Mills congregation unted with the German Reformed and Lutheran congregations in building a church on an acre of ground donated by Mrs John Barron. The Presbyterians sold their interest in the church to the Reformed and Lutherans in 1857, and built their own church on the west end of the lot.
The adjoining cemetery was shared by the three congregations. The earliest dated stone found in 1996 is that of an infant of David Sarah A. Kreps who died 27 August 1832. The earlist dated stone of an adult is 12 May 1834 stone of Michael Grosmann.
The cemetery is well care for and the stones are repaired when needed. Some aligning of the rows was done to faciliate mowing, but the original pacement was recorded and the stones were placed as near that location as posssible. After the Pine Grove Mills New Cemetery was begun in 1896 some graves were moved to it.
