Providence Cemetery has been misidentified by members of the Parke County Historical Society who have called it Pleasant Grove Cemetery. However numerous maps as well as deeds clearly show that the cemetery belonged to Providence Church.

Providence Church Cemetery began in 1850 as the Strickler cemetery when John Henry Strickler, Jr. became the first buried there.

Jacob Strickler donated the land of the cemetery to Providence Church which was located directly across the road from the cemetery.

The cemetery is located on Marshall Rd. between Marshall and Rockville. It is hard to find and badly overgrown.

Providence has also been known as the Teague Cemetery. The Teagues, Strickler descendants, took care of the cemetery after the dissolution of the church.

Today it is owned by Samuel Zook.

The cemetery is listed in the Cemetery and Burial Grounds Registry of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and in the State Historical Architectural and Archaeological Research Database (SHAARD) with Cemetery Record Number CR-61-159 (Pleasant Grove / Teague / Martin).
