Two acres of land were deeded to the Munster Union Cemetery on February 02, 1886. It included a right of way for access and became the successor to the Shillington Cemetery. A Board of Trustees was established at the time to manage the affairs of the Cemetery. In 1980, a second parcel of land was purchased on the South end of the Cemetery. In 2001, a third parcel of land was purchased on the West side of the Cemetery that extends out to the Munster Road. In 2003 the parcel north of the access road was purchased privately and donated to the Cemetery. This Cemetery is non-denominational.

The first burial was Mary Jane Conley nee Tubman, wife of John Conley who died January 29, 1885.

Several bodies and stones were moved later from the Shillington Cemetery, therefore, older dates are recorded on some of the stones.
