Consisting of approximately 7-8 acres, these grounds are named for George D. Seaman. He served as Sexton of both Green Ridge and Pine Ridge Cemeteries in Bay City, MI. Abandoned to wild flora for many generations, it was rescued single-handed by volunteer, Ronald Graham. This city owes him a debt of gratitude.

March 2012- Recent discovery of Sexton Records discloses the burial of a few hundred persons in this small cemetery for whom there are no visible grave markers. An effort will be made this year to get that list, plus a grave plot, onto the Internet.

A plat from the 1880s shows a direct road entrance to Seaman's Cemetery from Tuscola Road - south of entrances to Green Ridge (west) and Pine Ridge (east). In September 2011 - on his own initiative - Mr. Ronald Graham surveyed the axis of that ancient road - got out a chain saw, and began creation of a replacement road going west to Tuscola Road, one hundred years later! He did not ask for help. He did all the work himself and did not complain. This is what old cemeteries mean to a few special people.

Snow falling on 19th Century paupers, n'er do wells, John Does, convicts, and other victims for whom George D. Seaman 1827-1899 felt sympathy. His small burial ground was not for Toffs or Swells, and it made him little profit. Thanks, George.
