Although this burial ground is recorded as Fairview Cemetery in Mecklenburg county historical records, it is commonly known as Simfield Cemetery, after the Simfield AME Zion church in Union county.

County tax documents record with a typo.

Headstones in this cemetery range from 1862 to 2014. There appear to be many unmarked burials. There is no entrance sign or paved path at the entrance to this cemetery.
