John J Smith Family Cemetery
Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia, USA
Family cemetery dating back to when John J Smith won the 100 acres behind the cemtery in the 1933 Georgia Land Lottery.
To reach the cemetery, turn into the driveway just south of Providence Cemetery. You will recognize the property by the very large magnolia tree in the front yard of the white house built more than 200 years ago by John J Smith.
After parking, the cemetery is about a 75-100 yard walk along a wide path following the treeline that runs along Old Tennessee Rd. The cemetery is just beyond the treeline at the end of the path. A ground sonar survery done around 2010 showed there are many unmarked graves, with only about 15 marked. Some work has been done over the years to refurbish and re-erect many of the headstones.
