According to the property's abstract, David Puckett acquired the property on which his plot is located on 16 September 1835 from George Buckallew & his wife, Rachel, for the sum of $77. The deed for 40 acres (NW/SE Sec. 27, T9 R7) was recorded on 15 January 1841 (Clay Co, IN Deed Bk. D. p. 675). It reserved a small parcel for a family cemetery "in perpetuity".

This contributor interviewed, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Miller (David Puckett relations), the owners of the property in July 1972 at which time they allowed me to view the abstract. According to the Millers, David Puckett had hoped to move his family's graves from Sanders Cemetery to this private plot, but in the end, only David, Leannah, and possibly 1 child were buried there. The Millers were unsure if David's first wife, Elizabeth, was buried in Sanders or on the farm.

This plot lies about 300 yards directly behind (south) the farm house, which is located on W County Rd 1300 S, about halfway between S County Rd. 400 W & S County Rd. 500 W.

At that time, July 1972, Mr. Miller said that David & Leanna's monuments could still be found, but because it was in the middle of a planted soy bean field, the ground was always quite muddy & access was difficult. We did not try. He said that the plot had never been plowed or planted. I would hope that those few square feet have been protected, but one cannot tell from the Google satellite images.
