Spengler Family Graveyard
East York, York County, Pennsylvania, USA
Edward W. Spangler, in his book The Annals of the Families of Caspar, Henry, Baltzer, and George Spengler, stated that by 1896 none of the cemetery remained. It was encroached upon by farmers and eventually destroyed.
Human remains were uncovered at 15 North Harlan Street in 1927 while constructing a house on the site. Bones were also discovered across the street at 16 Harlan Street in 1924. Searching through old property records resulted in the discovery that this land was originally owned by the Spenglers and contained their family graveyard. It is believed to straddle North Harlan Street and was about 80 feet by 80 feet, according to Edward Spangler's book "The Annals of the families of Caspar, Henry, Baltzer and George Spengler, who settled in York County respectively in 1729, 1732, 1732 and 1751".
