St. Agatha Churchyard
Also known as Llanymynech Churchyard
Llanymynech, Powys, Wales
There has been a church on the site for over a millennium, with the current church of St Agatha dating from 1843 and still in use. The cemetery is in three sections. The graves round the church are in unstable ground, as can be seen from the collapse of some of the tombs. The 'new ground' was consecrated in 1896 and is accessed through a gate in the hedge behind the church. This quiet shaded spot is the location of many historic graves, including three of the four war graves at the cemetery.
With the 'new ground' now full, burials now take place in a third section, overlooked by Llanymynech Rocks. The cemetery is operated by the Parish Council.
