Amador City Cemetery
Amador City, Amador County, California, USA
Amador City Cemetery is located behind the Imperial Hotel on Church St.
It was started in 1851 and was in use until 1892. The terrain is very rocky and dynamite had to be used to dig the graves. It is a very small cemetery and filled up quickly.
As Amador City was a mining town, many of those buried here died from mining accidents.
The graveyard is assumed to be full and in the 1950s, the cemetery was restored with markers naming the people buried there and about them. However, many of the earlier headstones were wood and have long since disappeared.
