St Kilda is not served by any regular or scheduled boat or air service.
Tourist boats sail from Skye and the islands of the Outer Hebrides. Any sailing to St Kilda is heavily dependent on weather (and sea) conditions, and is subject to cancellation at short notice. These trips only take place between May and September and takes between 3 and 4 hours each way.
Cruiseliners also call at St Kilda, on occasion.
It is only possible to stay overnight on St Kilda by camping, having pre-booked through the National Trust for Scotland.
