The Grade 1 listed Church of St. John The Baptist sits on a sloping and elevated site above the village of Instow, with fine views over Bideford Bay and Lundy Island. The church dates back to the 13th century and is open to visitors during the day. At the back of the church is a map of the churchyard and details of all the known graves and memorial plaques. Like many churchyards today, the area where the older headstones are situated has become overgrown due to only being maintained on an annual basis. So access to these headstones is very limited.
