In 1995 my Carl relatives began to restore this 1789 abandoned Carl, Misener, Bald Cemetery at Port Robinson, Ontario. It was set aside by my 4th great grandfather John Carl, United Empire Loyalist, who fought with Butler's Rangers at Niagara and received a Crown Patent for 500 acres of land in Thorold Township for his military service.
In 1999, with restoration completed the cemetery was rededicated and a large new sign erected with the name: "Carl - Misener - Bald Cemetery" which overlooks the Welland Canal at Port Robinson, Ontario, Canada. As well a monument was unveiled in memory of our forefathers who were the first white settlers in this area as well stating there are 75 unmarked graves here.
On June 9, 2007, this family cemetery was awarded the following distinctions:
It was given a HERITAGE DESIGNATION by Peter Kormos, MPP, Niagara Centre, Province of Ontario, Toronto
It was also made a HERITAGE SITE by John D. Maloney, MP,
House of Commons, Canada
It was marked by a plaque to be the first United Empire Loyalist Cemetery by Colonel John Butler United Empire Loyalist Branch
(Bio information from Betty Harley 2012) Fallen Graver #47777323
