The cemetery is off Dewberry Road on private land in a densely wooded area. It has also been called the Dewberry Cemetery and the Thomas Harris Cemtery.

Three graves are marked with very worn tombstones. There are a number of unmarked graves.

It is located on the site of Bonner Chapel which began as a Society in the home of William Bonner in 1833. The Bonner plantation was located nearby, but across the Wehadkee Creek in Troup County, Georgia. The group then moved to a log structure located on this site, and was named Bonner Church. Exactly when the name became Standing Rock Methodist Episcopal Church is not known. It is also not known exactly when the church moved to its current location. The earliest documented grave in the current Standing Rock Cemetery is 1878.
