The Las Juntas Cemetery is located on the farm of Mr. Daniel Locke. The cemetery is on private property and is located off Highway 33 just south of Firebaugh, east on W. Sierra Ave., where the Delta-Mendota and CCID Canals intersect. Mr. Locke confirmed that there was only one remaining headstone (Ruth Medlin) located within a fenced area, and there are no other indications additional graves.

In 1930 Frank Lopez removed the burials that had markers and placed them at the cemetery just south of Firebaugh.
This is according to Frank F Latta, Joaquin Murrieta and His Horse Gangs; pp 132.1980. However, Firebaugh residents claim this relocation of graves from Las Juntas Cemtery to the Firebaugh Cemetery happened in the mid 1940's.

The Firebaugh Cemetery was created in 1920 from private property, then deeded to the City of Firebaugh. In 1989 a memorial stone was erected at the site of the old cemetery with names engraved of those known to be buried there. The combination of early burials, those moved from Las Juntas, and burials in Firebaugh from 1920 to 1971 would total many more than the current 61 names engraved.
