St. John the Baptist 15th century parish church is is in the small town of Hatherleigh in West Devon, on the outskirts of Dartmoor. In January 1990, storm damage resulted in the medieval wooden spire being blown down and crashing through the main roof. In just 2 years, the body of the church was rebuilt and the spire reconstructed using many of the original timbers. A searchable churchyard register can be found on their website.
