Farnaught Church of Ireland was built in 1853 for the Clements family of Lough Rynn Estate, yet the site has been in religious use for centuries as witnessed by the pre-1700 markers in the adjacent graveyard, which is listed as ref LE036-021 in the Irish national monument archaeological survey.
There is a small Church of Ireland graveyard surrounding the church, and adjacent to that a larger older graveyard which includes both protestant and catholic burials. Burials today are restricted to existing family plots only and all others are now interred at Gortletteragh Cemetery.
